Defence Industry
For decades, Denmark has had a close defence cooperation with Latvia, and due to the current geopolitical situation, Danish military is currently strongly engaged in Latvia, which is creating opportunities for further strengthen the cooperation in the field of defence and security.
Latvia is set to increase its military budget considerably in the coming years (2.5% of GDP in 2025 and 3% in 2027) and cooperation in the defence industry between Denmark and Latvia is a promising area. The Latvian defence budget is just under EUR 1 billion, of which 32% is aimed at investments, with focus on equipment and ammunition for national armed forces, strengthening of national cyber security capabilities and communication equipment.
The Trade Council provides assistance to Danish companies in the defence industry seeking to explore the opportunities in Latvia.
