Marking of the integration of the Defense Battalion into NATO's Multinational Brigade in Latvia
On August 19, Ambassador Morten Jespersen and Defense Attaché in the Baltics Visti Salomonsen attended the official marking of the integration of the Defense Battalion into NATO's Multinational Brigade in Latvia.
The battalion is Denmark's contribution to NATO's Multinational Brigade in Latvia, where a total of 13 nations, led by Canada, cooperate to strengthen NATO's eastern flank. The purpose is to deter Russia from attacking the allies in NATO and thereby strengthen security in Denmark's immediate area.
The Danish battalion of 850 soldiers arrived at Camp Valdemar outside Riga, from where the Danish soldiers will have a base.
The NATO Multinational Brigade is part of NATO's Multinational Division North, which has Denmark as a framework nation and is led by a Danish Major General.
