How to make Riga greener

Today, the Ambassador Flemming Stender took part in the opening for the virtual event “ HOW TO MAKE RIGA GREENER“ with participation also by the Deputy Chairman of the Riga City Council Vilnis Ķirsis and several NGOs. The event was organised by A/S Aldaris from Carlsberg Group to launching the local core brand “Mežpils alus” - the greenest beer brand in Latvia, with the campaign “IF WE DO, WE DO GOOD”.

 

"Mežpils alus" intention is to help the urban environment make Riga and Latvia greener all together by giving the opportunity to plant more than a million trees, as well as strengthen awareness about greener urban environments and the fight against climate change. The ambassador shared examples from Denmark and Copenhagen on how to combine growth, development and increased quality of life with the reduction of CO2 emissions. Denmark has set an ambitious climate goal o reducing emissions by 70% by 2030 and therefore we are delighted to share Danish examples to Latvian initiatives.
