Ambassador's welcome
On September 1, 2023, I assumed the role of Denmark's ambassador to Latvia. I am looking forward to the upcoming years, during which I will have the honour of representing Denmark here in Latvia.
The historical and close ties between Denmark and Latvia extend back many decades. Denmark was among the first countries to recognise Latvia in 1921, and after the restoration of Latvia's independence in 1991, Denmark once again was among the very first countries to re-establish diplomatic relations with Latvia.
Since then, our cooperation has grown stronger, and the relationship between our two nations has significantly evolved, both on a bilateral level, within the Nordic-Baltic cooperation, and in numerous international organisations, especially the EU and NATO.
At the embassy, we work every day to strengthen and expand the excellent relations between Latvia and Denmark. This includes economic, political, and cultural aspects, as well as representing Danish interests here in Latvia.
Our Trade Department is available to Danish companies seeking partners in Latvia or wishing to expand their presence in the Latvian market. Additionally, we actively work to promote awareness of Denmark, our culture, and strengthen Danish interests in Latvia. The embassy also carries out consular tasks for Danish citizens in Latvia.
The embassy is located in a historic building in the old town of Riga. We always welcome visitors here at the embassy, so please feel free to contact us to arrange a visit or to obtain further information about Latvia and Denmark.
